13 stars join Southern Brave

England internationals. Local talent. Southern Brave announce 13 more players for 2021.

Southern Brave are building their squad and announce an additional 13 players for The Hundred in 2021.

England’s 2017 World Cup winners Anya Shrubsole and Danni Wyatt line up in the women’s team. While Liam Dawson and James Vince, who were part of England’s 2019 World Cup winning squad, join Chris Jordan in the men’s side.

Shrubsole is one of England’s best-ever bowlers. She has more than 200 international wickets, six of which came in the 2017 World Cup Final. Wyatt holds the highest short-form score for England with 124 from just 64 balls.

The pair join the already-announced Stafanie Taylor. And they’ll be accompanied by five other local players: Maia Bouchier, Freya Kemp, Tara Norris, Carla Rudd and Paige Scholfield. The quintet were part of the Southern Vipers squad which won the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy in 2020.

Left-arm spin bowler Dawson and stylish batter Vince are joined by fast bowler Jordan. He’s England’s leading wicket-taker in short-form cricket and will play alongside fellow fast bowlers George Garton and Tymal Mills. Power-hitting batter Delray Rawlins also joins.

Danielle Wyatt said:

“I’m delighted to be playing for Southern Brave next year. Our squad is looking strong already with a mixture of quality local players and world class cricketers like Anya Shrubsole and Stafanie Taylor already confirmed. The Hundred is going to be great for the women’s game and I can’t wait to take part next summer and help inspire a new generation to watch and play the game.”

James Vince added:

“I love playing at the Ageas Bowl and I’m delighted that I’ll get to represent Southern Brave next year in The Hundred. The draft went really well for us in 2019 and keeping so many of our picks should put us in a great position ahead of the start of the competition. It’s really important that we’ve retained a number of local players and I hope fans can enjoy seeing them in action next summer.”
