Five things to watch out for in the first men's match

How do you follow yesterday’s thriller between the women of Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals? Well, you do it all over again with the men.

Today, Jos Buttler, Carlos Brathwaite and co travel to London to kick off the men’s gripping new competition against Sunil Narine, the Curran brothers and Jason Roy of the Oval Invincibles.

As the build-up continues, here are five things to watch out for this evening.

AN INCREDIBLE ATMOSPHERE

Dane van Niekerk credited the fans for her side’s victory last night: “It was electric, it was incredible,” she said. “The crowd carried us at the end.” Invincibles’ Kate Cross agreed: “I’ve never played in front of a crowd like that before.” Following a performance from Becky Hill last night, Jack Garratt will be on hand to play some of his hits this evening.

MORE FIRSTS

Last night we saw the women of The Hundred hit their first boundaries, get their first wickets and watched the Invincibles get their inaugural victory in the competition. Which of the teams will be victorious and what new records will the two big-hitting line-ups set for the rest to chase?

THE SIX COUNT

Here’s hoping for quantity and quality from tonight’s teams – who will hit the biggest or the most sixes? Will it be Buttler or youngster Tom Lammonby for Manchester or will the home team’s Jason Roy or Sam Billings find the crowd/roof/car park more often?

THE FIRST HAT-TRICK?!

Manchester captain Kate Cross came close to the first hat-trick in the first match, taking two wickets in two balls, will her male counterparts be able to live up to that?

WORLD-CLASS COMPETITION

New Zealand international Colin Munro is the first player to score three international T20 100s, can he make an impact for Manchester in the shorter form? His veteran teammate Carlos Brathwaite will be looking for a win as will England players Buttler and Matt Parkinson.

Home internationals Rory Burns, Roy, Reece Topley and Tom and Sam Curran are joined in the Invincibles’ line-up by West Indian Sunil Narine and South African all-rounder Colin Ingram.
