Birmingham Phoenix sent a message out to the rest of The Hundred field with an emphatic 53-run victory over defending champions Southern Brave.
Phoenix were led by their fearless young guns with 20-year-old Will Smeed hitting the first-ever 100 in the competition’s history.
This was quickly followed by 22-year-old Henry Brookes’ incredible five wickets that put paid to any chances of a Brave comeback.
Kane Richardson nabbed a trio of wickets of his own, including a late brace, to seal the home’s side’s first win.
