Meet the Women's Eliminator: Northern Superchargers vs Welsh Fire

Are you ready for the Women's Competition Eliminator? It's on Saturday 26 August at The Kia Oval!

Three teams are left standing in the Women's Competition in The Hundred, and Saturday sees Northern Superchargers and Welsh Fire battle it out for the right to face Southern Brave in Sunday's final.

And in preparation for Saturday's eliminator, we've taken a closer look at both teams' journey through the competition.

Northern Superchargers

After missing out on a place in the knockout stages last year, Northern Superchargers have sealed a spot in the final three in 2023 on the back of six victories from their eight matches to see them finish the Group Stage in second position.

The star of the show for Superchargers has been Phoebe Litchfield, who currently tops the charts for most runs scored in the Women’s Competition with 266.

A place in Sunday’s Final is on the line when they take on Welsh Fire in Saturday’s Eliminator, and these sides have already clashed this week - Superchargers winning by 16 runs at Headingley on Tuesday.

With that victory fresh in mind, Superchargers will be hoping for another strong performance from their team in the Eliminator to set up a showdown against Southern Brave at Lord's on Sunday.

Welsh Fire

Fire's defeat on Tuesday means that they finish third and go to Saturday’s Eliminator.

And what a difference a year can make, particularly for the Welsh Fire women’s team, who have booked a place in the knockout stages of The Hundred.

Their five wins this season are almost twice as many as they had previously registered in the competition's history, and they have posted three of the four highest totals, the fourth being against them in a match they lost by one run off the final ball.

With bat and ball, Fire have been in fantastic form - captain Tammy Beaumont recorded a stunning hundred, a first in the Women's Competition, and the highest score recorded in either competition.
