A look back at The Hundred Finals Day

A thrilling day of action at Lord's saw Oval Invincibles and Trent Rockets crowned champions.

Oval Invincibles go back-to-back

In a repeat of last year’s final, Oval Invincibles defended their women’s title, edging out Southern Brave at Lord’s in a nervy contest.

A superb bowling performance saw the Invincibles restrict the Brave to 101, with Shabnim Ismail and 18-year-old England star Alice Capsey each taking two wickets.

Sophia Dunkley top-scored for the Brave before succumbing to spinner Sophia Smale.

After their impressive performance with the ball, Invincibles set about chasing down the 102 runs that were required for victory.

And they made it with six balls to spare, surviving some scares, including Alice Capsey being dropped twice.

Marizanne Kapp steered them to victory, finishing on 37 not out, aided by Emily Windsor, who scored the winning runs to spark scenes of celebration amongst the Invincibles players.

And it wasn’t just cricket action that fans enjoyed at Lord's.

Multi-platinum British pop-rock band Bastille entertained the crowd, including a performance of their massive hit Pompeii.

Rockets blast to glory

And the Men's Competition also produced a nail-biting finish - Trent Rockets beating Manchester Originals by two wickets.

Chasing 121 to win, the Rockets struggled at times and required 11 runs from the final five balls.

Step forward Rockets' captain Lewis Gregory - who smashed a stunning six, followed with a four and a single to seal victory with two balls to spare.

The momentum had swung between the sides in a thrilling final, and the Originals looked likely to pull off a stunning victory despite limping to 120 from their 100 balls.

They took the big scalps of Alex Hales and Dawid Malan for eight and 19, respectively, but despite this just came up short against a Rockets team that wouldn't give up.

And praise should also be given to Trent Rockets' bowlers, including 37-year-old spinner Samit Patel, who took three wickets and was on a hat-trick at one stage.
