Stumps go flying at The Hundred!

A look back at some of those moments when bowlers sent the batters stumps flying out of the ground!

There’s no better sight in cricket for a bowler than seeing stumps go flying! Getting a batter out by bowling them is the ultimate reward for the fielding side and we saw plenty of stumps flying in The Hundred 2021. Take a look back at some of those moments where the flashing wickets lit up and the batters were forced to walk away from the crease!

On just the third day of the competition, London Spirit took on Birmingham Phoenix in a tight encounter. Just 23 balls in, Shafali Verma was at the crease and was looking like her free-scoring self. But Freya Davies had different ideas and when she came on for a bowl, she made sure that the young batter could not add more to her team’s total.

When you’re bowling second, wickets are crucial. And when there’s a batter in the middle as dangerous as Hollie Armitage, wickets are even more important. Piepa Cleary was there to get the job done for the Welsh Fire and she got the Northern Superchargers batter all tangled up. A brilliant delivery!

Adam Milne finished joint top wicket-taker in the Men’s Competition in 2021 and with a bowling ability like this, it’s obvious why. Devon Conway emerged as a dangerous batter before The Hundred, so removing him from the crease was crucial. Milne made sure he took care of that in style.

Freya Davies may be a dangerous bowler herself, but that doesn’t mean she can avoid being on the end of a special delivery. Here she is being bowled by Oval Invincibles star Tash Farrant. She finished top wicket-taker in the Women’s Competition and it’s clear why!

The Oval Invincibles seemed to have a theme in 2021 and that was that their bowlers loved taking wickets. Perhaps the most satisfying of the lot was this from Shabnim Ismail. We don’t think many words are needed for this one, but watch leg stump go flying!
