Sir James Anderson selected by Manchester Originals as a Vitality Wildcard for The Hundred 2025

Legendary English fast bowler will join men's squad at Emirates Old Trafford

One of England's greatest-ever cricketers, Sir James Anderson, will join Manchester Originals for The Hundred 2025. Originals selected Anderson as one of their two men's Vitality Wildcard picks ahead of the fifth year of the competition, which begins on Tuesday 5 August.

Anderson boasts a remarkable record across a career spanning 25 years, with over 400 appearances and nearly 1,000 wickets at international level.

The 42-year-old has been in fine form in this year's Vitality Blast too, claiming 14 wickets in his first eight matches of the competition.

If he plays for Originals, Anderson will become the second-oldest player ever in the history of The Hundred, behind Imran Tahir - who was 43 years and 149 days old when he last featured back in 2022.

Each team selects two men's and two women's players in the Vitality Wildcard Draft to bolster their squad. The process gives an opportunity for players previously unselected for The Hundred to put themselves in contention through outstanding form in the first three months of the English domestic cricket season.
